Questions people actually ask us.
If you do not see what you are looking for here, just reach out. We are happy to talk through it.
Your first session is not about filling out paperwork. Your therapist will
take time to understand what brought you in, what your life looks like right
now, and what you are hoping to get out of therapy. One of the things we hear
most often from new clients is that they leave the first session already
feeling like change is possible. We will also start building a treatment plan
together, so you leave with a clearer sense of what the work ahead actually
looks like and a real sense of hope that it is within reach.
When you reach out, our office team will ask you a few questions about what
you are looking for, your availability, and your insurance, and match you
with the therapist who is the best fit. If you look through our team page
and someone already feels right, you can request them specifically.
We want you with someone you can actually open up to, and we take that seriously.
We accept most common insurance plans. We do not currently accept Medicaid
or Medicare. If you are not sure whether we take your specific plan, call us
at 801-990-4310 or fill out the contact form and we will verify your benefits
before your first appointment. You will have a clear answer before you book anything.
Sessions are $125 per session for associate clinicians at MHWC and $150 for
Dr. Saibara-Cook. If you are using insurance, your out-of-pocket cost will
depend on your specific plan, copay, and deductible. For context, therapy
sessions in the Salt Lake City area can run up to $250 per session. We keep
our rates intentionally on the lower end because we believe cost should not
be what gets in the way of someone asking for help. See our Insurance &
Fees page for more detail.
Yes. We offer telehealth sessions for clients throughout Utah. If you are
not near our Salt Lake City or Sandy offices, or if you simply prefer
meeting from home, we can make that work. Sessions are conducted through
a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Several of our therapists offer
a mix of in-person and remote sessions depending on your preference.
We see clients from age 3 through adulthood. We work with children, teens,
adults, and couples. Some of our therapists work with children as young as
3 for specific concerns. If you are calling about a child or teen, our
office team can help match you with the therapist who has the most relevant
experience for your child's age and situation.
That is more common than you might think, and it usually comes down to fit,
approach, or timing. We are not going to promise we are different without
getting to know you first. But we will say that finding the right therapist
and the right approach matters enormously, and we take matching people
carefully. If something is not working once you are here, we want to know.
We would rather adjust than have you quietly stop coming.
Yes, when it is helpful. Our therapists are willing to review medical
records you share with us and to correspond with other members of your
care team, whether that is a prescribing physician, a specialist, or
another provider involved in your treatment. Mental health and physical
health are not separate things. Symptom overlap between medical and mental
health conditions is real, and having your providers on the same page makes
a difference. We take that kind of coordination seriously.
Yes. Korina Jagiello-Caldwell is fluent in Polish and sees clients at our
Sandy location. Lan Au-Duong is fluent in Vietnamese and conversational
in Cantonese and sees clients at our Salt Lake City location. If language
access is important to you or someone in your family, let us know when
you reach out and we will connect you with the right person.
Yes, fully. Every therapist at MHWC is an ally. Teresa Burton is a member
of the LGBTQ+ Affirmative Psychotherapist Guild of Utah. We work with
individuals exploring gender identity, sexual orientation, relationship
structures, and the specific stressors that can come with navigating a
world that is not always set up for you. You will not have to explain
yourself here. You will just get to work.
That depends on the person and what they are working on. Some clients
come for a focused period of several months with a specific goal in mind.
Others benefit from longer-term work. What we do not do is keep people
in therapy longer than they need to be. From the first appointment, your
therapist will work with you on a real plan with clear goals so you always
know what you are working toward and why.
We will help you find them. If something is outside our scope, we will
point you in a direction that actually makes sense for what you need.
We are an outpatient practice, so if you are in crisis or need a higher
level of care, we will help connect you with the right resource. We are
not interested in keeping you with us if somewhere else would serve you better.
